Bromeliads are a member of the Bromeliaceae family and are related to the pineapple. They are mainly native to the tropical Americas, with a few varieties hailing from the American subtropics and west Africa. 

These tropical plants have striking leaf colors and patterns and very frequently a one-time bloom (which may last several months) that emerges from the center of the leaf cluster! The 'Energy' is recognizable by deep green curling leaves and a firey flower spike.

Special care note: Bromeliads all have a 'cup' at the center of their leaves. This cup wants to hold water at all times, so make sure to not let it dry out! You can water the soil more sparingly.
